Human Combat Rules
Human rules basically deal with how long you have left to live.
Damage
There are two kinds of damage in ZombieLARP – Normal and Fatal. Normal damage is taken from anything harmful encountered in the game world; a zombie’s claws and teeth, a lead pipe, an axe, an assault rifle, a sawn-off shotgun. Normal damage progression is detailed below. Fatal damage is suffered when you are shot point-blank in the chest or back – at this point, you go straight to Dead (see below). Fatal damage normally only happens to NPC humans, because it’s no fun for players to go down like that.
Humans have three health levels, and each time a character is damaged they lose a health level:
- Three health: No problems at all. Your character can act as they please – run, jump, shoot, hit things with axes, and so on.
- Two health: You’ve taken a light wound. Pick an arm (if you were hit in an arm, pick that one) – you may no longer operate weapons with this arm. You can carry items and hold/cock two-handed guns, but not pull triggers or swing melee weapons with this arm.
- One health: You’ve lost a lot of blood and taken some serious injuries. Pick a leg (if you have been hit in a leg, pick that one) – you must limp on it. Walking is okay but running causes pain and you will prefer to sit down or lean against a wall if possible.
- Zero health: You’re barely conscious, and cannot stand unaided. You may not move without the help of teammates, who may carry you by placing one arm around your shoulder. If they let go of you, drop to the floor. You may use class abilities (i.e. Medic) as normal.
- Once you have hit zero health, you are dying. You will die if you take any more damage, or whenever you feel it is dramatically appropriate.
- Dead: You’re dead. If you lost any health levels to zombie attacks, you are infected and will reanimate a dramatically appropriate time after your death. If you weren’t infected or you died due to Fatal damage you are just dead, and should remain collapsed on the ground (ideally in a nice safe place out of the way of running feet) until all living players have left the area. Once they’ve gone, report to an EnyoGeni Technician for instruction, taking care not to be seen by the players.
Healing

Medics are given a number of Med-strips which let them heal injured players, usually represented by strips of coloured tape. To heal a player, the medic slaps the tape on their arm or back – this immediately heals them to full health.
Medics can heal themselves the same way, and can ask for assistance if they wish.
Extra health levels
Some characters have extra health levels thanks to their class, equipment or scenario special rules. You don’t have to roleplay losing these – they’re effectively free.
